OK, here's the quick guide to taking a close-up of your character's face for the forums: (this assumes that you're using Windows and have the MS Office suite)
1. In-game, when you're relatively close up to your character's face, press Alt and Print Screen together. A message will pop-up in game telling you where the screen shot was saved and what it was called
2. Open the picture using Microsoft Office Picture Manager (found under Programs, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Office Tools)
3. Click the Edit Pictures button
4. Click Crop
5. Edge guides will show up around the edge of the pictures - click and drag each side (top, bottom, left, right) to be close in on the face
6. Click OK
7. Click Save or File, Save As (to give it a different name and not save over the original picture) (
be sure to save it as a .jpg)
8. Upload the picture to your forum profile to start using it as your profile pic
Alternately, if you don't have Microsoft Office or the Microsoft Office Picture Manager:
1a. In-game, when you're relatively close up to your character's face, press Alt and Print Screen together. A message will pop-up in game telling you where the screen shot was saved and what it was called
2a. Open the picture using Paint (found under Programs, Accessories)
3a. From the buttons on the left-side toolbar, click the Rectangle with the dotted edges (the Select tool)
4a. Click and drag a square relatively close around your character's face
5a. Click Edit, Cut or Ctrl-X
6a. Click File, New or Ctrl-N (click No to discard changes to the current file)
7a. If the white "pallet" that shows up in the new file is larger than your face shot, click Image, Attirbutes or Ctrl-E and make the new image 5 x 5 pixels (so it's smaller than your face shot). Then, click Edit, Paste or Ctrl-V to paste the face shot into the blank document
8a. Click File, Save or Ctrl-S and give the face shot a name (
be sure to save it as a .jpg)
9a. Upload the picture to your forum profile to start using it as your profile pic
That should do it! If you have any questions, or the instructions don't work, feel free to ask.
